Hygienists who are committed to practicing in public health by working at a nonprofit dental clinic in Michigan, Ohio or Indiana can apply for $5,000 in loan repayment each year for up to three years ($15,000 total).
It depends on the program. Private practice dentists applying for the loan repayment for dentists in private practice offered by Delta Dental of Michigan, Ohio, and Indiana cannot be receiving any other form of loan repayment. However, dentists and dental hygienists applying for the Delta Dental Foundation’s public health loan repayment programs can combine multiple forms of loan repayment for dentists in private practice.
No. Although these scholarship and loan repayment options are only for students and oral health professionals in Michigan, Ohio or Indiana, there are no state-specific quotas.
Because scholarship and loan repayment requests may vary in dollar amount, there is no “set” number of awards. Instead, scholarships and loan repayment will be awarded until each program’s individual budget is exhausted.
If you're a dentist in private practice and you see Medicaid beneficiaries, you should apply to "Loan Repayment for Dentists in Private Practice." If you are a dentist at a nonprofit dental clinic, such as a community health center, you should apply to "Loan Repayment for Dentists in Public Health." Dual applications may be disqualified.
No. You can still apply for Loan Repayment for Dentists in Private Practice as long as you are treating at least 15% Medicaid-insured patients.
No. This program only covers dental profession student loan debt.
