Message from the CEO

In 2024, Delta Dental retained 100% of existing government customers while adding more than 230,000 members. That increase in new membership reflects our organization’s effort to refine strategies and increase access to Medicaid and Medicare members. We delivered more access, better outcomes and more options for the communities we serve.

Commercial business across Michigan, Ohio and Indiana grew by more than 259,393 subscribers and more than $146.7 million in new revenue. We added 1,896 groups to our roster while achieving an exceptional 98.8% retention rate of existing customers.

DeltaVision®, saw steady, appreciable growth as well—adding nearly 943 new groups and more than 42,861 subscribers.

Delta Dental employees continued to give back with an incredible 63% of staff members donating time, money or both to charitable activities.

The Delta Dental Foundation contributed nearly $6.1 million to benefit oral health education in 2024, affecting more than 4.3 million lives.

In 2024, we worked across departments to improve how we communicate with our customers and providers to deliver more efficient member materials and payments.

Our initiatives and performance in 2024 reflect our commitment to our mission and ensure we will continue to deliver now and in the future.

Our commitment to our mission of improving oral health through benefit plans, advocacy and community support continues to deliver for our organization, stakeholders and partners.

Diverse growth and operational excellence defined 2024 milestones
Delta Dental of Michigan, Ohio, and Indiana now covers 1.1 million Medicaid members. Medicaid saw a 20% COVID-induced increase in enrollment during the pandemic. With the end of the global health emergency, Medicaid eligibility redetermination led to (and continues to create) significant disenrollment. Delta Dental was prepared for these fluctuations and handled the movement without the need to bring on additional staff.
A key partnership with Centene was cemented in Michigan (Meridian), adding 230,000 new members, highlighting the fiscal resiliency of the Government Programs team to navigate unprecedented government requirements. This remarkable performance reflects the strength of new and renewed partnerships and our commitment to serving these populations with excellence.
The addition of MDwise (Indiana Medicaid) alone added more than 300,00 members and provided Delta Dental of Indiana with a substantial footprint in the Medicaid business.
Other key milestones included securing administration of TennCare (Tennessee Medicaid) in partnership with Renaissance, expanding with Meridian (Michigan Medicaid) and partnering with Delta Dental of Virginia on its first-ever Medicare Advantage client, Sentara Health Plan. All clients were previously served by other administrators (DentaQuest), marking a significant shift in trust and opportunity.

Total premium and ASO administrative fees reached $1.6 billion in 2024, reflecting broad market confidence in our benefit offerings.
We achieved this success while maintaining a disciplined financial approach, ending the year with a combined ratio of 99.2%, underscoring our operational efficiency and long-term sustainability.
Providers were also featured in several paid media efforts with local television outlets, promoting the quality of Delta Dental’s networks and the providers that comprise them.
A panel of providers, dental hygienists and dental office managers convened several times throughout the year to discuss provider communications. These engagements provided invaluable feedback from network providers while helping to form future communication efforts.
We also introduced fee increases on procedure codes most impactful to providers, reinforcing our focus on financial sustainability and provider satisfaction. Throughout the year, two issues of our Best Practice publication kept dentists informed on policies, updates and news across the network. Each issue provided the opportunity to shine a spotlight on network providers.
As we move forward, Delta Dental remains committed to treating providers as true partners in our mission—offering tools, transparency and the support needed to deliver excellent care.

Tools, network growth and communication defined year of achievement
In 2024, Delta Dental of Michigan, Ohio, and Indiana continued investing in the success and satisfaction of its provider network—strengthening collaboration, improving efficiency and supporting expansion to meet growing needs across all lines of business.
A major achievement was the launch of the Provider Application and Credentialing Toolkit (PACT), a new portal that significantly reduces the time required for credentialing and recredentialing by up to 250%. This innovation reflects our commitment to streamlining administrative processes and making it easier for providers to work with us.
